Plovdiv is hosting the prestigious, world-class tournament Davis Cup.
The " Lions '' will host the match against Belgium on February 7 and 8 at the Kolodruma Hall in Plovdiv, after the draw determined that the two teams will face each other in a match from the World Group of the competition.
The captain of the Bulgarian national tennis team, Valentin Dimov, announced the team for the match. The '' young hope '' Iliyan Radulov, who missed the match against Finland due to injury, but was part of the team in the victory over Romania at the beginning of last year, returns to the selection.
The squad also includes Ivan Ivanov, Alexander Vassilev, Pyotr Nesterov and Alexander Donski. The captain of Bulgaria is Valentin Dimov, and Tihomir Grozdanov holds the position of assistant coach.
Bulgaria's opponent comes with it's best. Belgium has announced the team with a total of four players from the top 100 in the world rankings for singles and doubles.
The Belgians, semi-finalists in the last edition of the tournament and number 4 in this year's seeding scheme, will rely on Zizou Bergs, Raphael Collignon, Alexander Blox, Sander Gilles and Göran Flijgen.
The first seed is Bergs, who is 42nd in the ATP singles rankings, Collignon is 84th, and Blox is 115th. Gilles and Flijgen are doubles specialists, with the former being 49th in the world rankings for duets, and the latter being 67th.
If Bulgaria wins the upcoming match, it will play in September for a place in the finals against the winner of the match between Austria and Japan.
If the national team loses, it will participate in a play-off to retain its place in the World Group in September 2026.
