Bulgaria has reason to be proud. Fencing World Cup - Plovdiv 2025 is in Bulgarian hands. In the "Women" competition, 174 competitors from all over the world took part, but Ioana Ilieva once again demonstrated impeccable technique with the saber, iron concentration and a quick mind. In the final match, she won with 15:13 points over the Italian Chiara Mormile, after which the Bulgarian national anthem sounded in the Colodrum Hall.
The men's cup went to Oh Sanguk, from Korea. He won the gold, for which 231 participants of the stronger sex fought.
For the good organization and raising fencing to the world level, the Bulgarian Fencing Federation received a congratulatory address from the Minister of Youth and Sports, Ivan Peshev.
On Sunday, the duels continue. Competitors from 19 countries will compete in the team competition, category "Women", and for the team award - "Men", representatives from 24 countries are expected.
