After the prestigious Davis Cup tennis tournament, the Kolodrum Hall is ready to host the European Archery Championship. This year’s edition is undoubtedly the one with the greatest interest over the years. From February 16 to 21, the multifunctional sports hall “Kolodrum-Plovdiv” will host the European Indoor Archery Championship – one of the most prestigious events in the calendar of the European Archery Federation. The championship is hosted by the Bulgarian Archery Federation, with the support of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Municipality of Plovdiv and Sport Toto.
Interest in the competition is extremely high – over 300 competitors and 85 officials from over 30 countries have announced their participation, which makes the XXII European Championship the largest in history and promises to be a real celebration for fans of this elegant and dynamic sport.
The competitions will be held in the three main divisions – recurve, compound and bare bow, in the age groups of men and women, as well as youth and girls up to 21 years. Participants will compete in both individual and team disciplines, and for the first time in history, mixed teams will also be included in the hall – a novelty that promises additional emotions and spectacular duels.
The program offers shooting of the highest level throughout the week. We start with an official training on February 16. On February 17, spectators will be able to follow the qualifications, and on February 18 and 19, the individual and team eliminations will take place. Friday, February 20, is set aside for the team finals, while the culmination will be on Saturday, February 21, when the individual finals will take place and the new European champions will be announced.
In addition to the elite of European Archery, among the star names in the tournament is the Bulgarian hope and current European indoor champion Ivan Banchev, who will defend his title in the men's recurve discipline, won at the championship in Samsun, Turkey in 2025. His participation is an additional reason for the Bulgarian audience to fill the stands and support our national competitors.
Admission for spectators is free, and the program is all-day from 9 to 19 on all competition days, which makes the European Indoor Archery Championship in Plovdiv an excellent opportunity for all sports fans to experience up close the mastery, concentration and drama of one of the most ancient and beautiful sports.
